Day in the life of a VC Workshop

Do you want to learn the skills for a typical day as a VC?

Join us for the workshop followed by drinks and networking.

Learn from Episode 1, an early stage venture capital firm based in London, with a £60m fund to invest in UK software driven startups.

Episode 1 has backed successful companies like Carwow, Triptease & AimBrain, and their past investments include the likes of Zoopla, Shazam, Betfair, and Lovefilm.

They are particularly interested in how emerging “deep tech” technologies are disrupting industry, and how technology is reinventing markets.

Grand Opening Party

October 2019
We had an incredible night with over 100 students and 10+ investment firms joining us and our partners for an evening of drinks and networking to celebrate the opening of the Oxford Venture Capital Network. Guests included Campus Capital, RLC Ventures, Machine Capital, Panacea Innovation, Satisfied Snacks & more.

It was a hugely popular event with first release tickets selling out in just one hour, and our subsequent ballot was highly subscribed.

Campus Capital Intro to VC Workshop

October 2019
We hosted Campus Capital for two workshops on Intro to VC, and had over 75 students attend.

Do you want to learn what venture capital is all about? Do you want to join our student VC team? Do you want your life to get much more exciting? If the answer to any of these questions is YES, then make sure you don't miss this workshop!

We welcome all students, with any level of experience, to attend this workshop and apply for the student VC program.

In the workshop you'll learn what it means to be a VC and you can chat to representatives from Campus Capital.

GAIN: Girls are investors Panel

November 2019
OXVC and CapitOx hosted Girls Are Investors (GAIN) for a panel event focused on inspiring, informing and assisting the next generation of investors!

- Caroline Hultman: Co-founder of GAIN and a Senior Investment Analyst at Alta Advisors, a family investment office.
- Charlotte Yonge: Co-founder of GAIN and a fund manager at Troy Asset Management, where she manages the Trojan Ethical Fund.
- Shivani Oberoi: Graduated from Oxford in 2016 and now works at OU Endowment Management where she is an investment manager.

Entrepreneurial Finance Workshop

November 2019
We had Said Business School Professor Thomas Hellmann tell us how entrepreneurial finance really works. We had over 40 students attend this event at the Oxford Foundry.

Dr. Thomas Hellmann is the DP World Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Saïd Business School. His research focuses on entrepreneurial finance, entrepreneurship, innovation, and public policy and his academic writings have been published in many leading economics, finance, and management journals, including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Finance, and Management Science. Journey to VC panel Discussion and Networking

November 2019
We had a fantastic panel discussion with over 50 attendeed. Investors and startups talked about what it takes to get VC funding, or get into VC yourself, followed by drinks and networking.


- Richard Muirhead. Richard is an Australian-British technologist, investor and bitcoin pioneer. He is the Founding Managing Partner of Fabric Ventures, a VC fund investing in blockchain and decentralised data networks. He is also co-founder and chairman of, a Europe-focused seed acceleration platform with over 40 portfolio companies. He previously founded 3 companies, including Orchestream, which IPO'd in 2000 with a market cap of $1.4Bn.

- Lola Wajskop. Lola is an investor at Hummingbird Ventures, a venture capital fund investing in fast-growing tech with investments including Peak Games, Kraken, and Deliveroo.

- Alex Urist. Alex is Head of Business Development at SupChina, a New York-based China-focussed media startup backed by Trail Mix Ventures.

Innovate Bar Crawl

December 2019
We hosted the first inter-societal bar crawl with inter-disciplinary innovation in mind.

"We want to provide an opportunity to all of our members to meet students with different edges, skills and passions. And if you are lucky, you might come out with a new business idea, meet your future cofounder or find a dream team for the All-Innovate Idea Competition."

This event was co-hosted by OxRam, Oxford Entrepreneurs, Oxford Venture Capital Network, CapitOX, Oxford AI Society and Hertford Entrepreneurship Society.
